June 24. Russian PM Vladimir Putin met top managers of French oil company Total and Russian gas producer Novatek Wednesday to discuss cooperation of the two companies in Russia, Putin’s spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday. “They will discuss forms of cooperation on the Russian market, output in Russia… setting up a JV”, Peskov noted. Analysts point out that the Russian PM often meets with the top executives of large companies before large transactions are announced. In February, Novatek chairman Leonid Mikhelson said the companies were in talks over two potential projects, agreements on which could be clinched before long.
